OSHAWA, 17 May 2010 — Colin Carrie,
Member of Parliament for Oshawa and
Parliamentary Secretary to the
Minister of Health, today announced
that the city of Oshawa will receive
an investment of more than $2
million dollars to complete the
Oshawa Civic Fields refurbishment,
through the Federal Economic
Development Agency for Southern
Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
“Our government is investing in
businesses and communities like ours
to help stimulate job growth and
improve the quality of life of our
residents,” said MP Carrie. “We are
working hard to support and invest
in southern Ontario communities to
help this region recover from the
economic recession.”

community. Today’s announcement of
more that $2 million dollars to
complete the Oshawa Civic Fields
refurbishment, through the Federal
Economic Development Agency for
Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario),
clearly demonstrates the positive
direction Oshawa continues to
follow, making our community the
best place to live, work and play,”
said Mayor John Gray.
This project will
allow for the construction of a new
outdoor artificial turf field; the
resurfacing of the existing outdoor
competitive track; stadium
renovations; and improvements to and
the expansion of the parking lot and
will include an investment from the
federal government of $2,119,500.
This project will be funded through
the Community Adjustment Fund,
a
two-year, $1-billion national
program aimed at addressing the
short-term economic needs of
communities hit hardest by the
global economic recession. The
approved project must meet the terms
and conditions set out in the
contribution agreement.
