Member of Parliament Oshawa

Your turn: Oshawa airport noise

Thank you for participating. This survey closed at 5:00pm, Friday, June 18, 2021.

Lately, I’ve received an increasing number of calls and e-mails about aircraft-related noise from nearby residents — mostly related to flight training and the frequency of ‘touch-and-go’ exercises at the Oshawa Executive Airport.

During my delegation before Oshawa’s Mayor and Councillors at the May 10, 2021 virtual public meeting of the City's Development Services Committee, I stated that all stakeholders must work together to minimize the impact of aircraft-related noise on local residents. We must also ensure that this vital economic, recreational and transportation asset continues to thrive — as a respectful, courteous partner and good neighbour.

While the City of Oshawa operates our airport, federal regulations govern its operation and aircraft movements.

With that in mind, my role as your federal Member of Parliament in Oshawa is to work with residents, businesses, airport management, our City, Transport Canada and the Minister to ensure all views are considered in current local and federal airport discussions.

Though I'm especially interested in hearing from constituents residing within the airport’s radius and/or flightpath — I've heard from hundreds of you over the past few weeks — I also welcome the views of Oshawa residents living north of Taunton Road in the neighbourhoods of Northwood, Cedar Valley, Samac, Winfields and Kedron.

As always, I’m most grateful for your time and contribution.

Sincerely,
