On April 1, 2024 Trudeau's costly Carbon Tax increased from $65 per tonne to $80 per tonne.

And all along the way, Jagmeet Singh and the NDP have supported – and voted for – every single Carbon Tax increase.

Oshawa families are now paying an extra 17 cents per litre of gasoline, 15 cents more per cubic metre of natural gas and, overall, an additional $1,674 per year in 2024 owing to the most recent NDP-supported Carbon Tax increase.

Even after your federal rebate payments are factored in, the Carbon Tax will still cost the average Oshawa household an additional $377 to $911 in 2024-25 according to the independent and non-partisan Parliamentary Budget Officer's report of March 2023.

But just last week, the NDP leader backpeddled on his party's long-standing support of Trudeau's tax and proclaimed that working families shouldn't bear the brunt of the Carbon Tax – after years of hammering working families with successive Carbon Tax increases. So, what gives?

The Petition

 Whereas:

Oshawa residents are facing substantial increases to their home heating bills owing to the Trudeau-NDP Carbon Tax; and

The March 2023 report from the independent Parliamentary Budget Officer proved that the Carbon Tax will cost most households far more than they can expect to recover in federal rebate payments;

The Carbon Tax has driven up the price of essentials such as groceries, home heat, and gasoline for our cars during a national cost-of-living crisis; and,

Trudeau's recent tax policy change disadvantages residents of Ontario relative to Atlantic Canadians (who were gifted a special break on the Carbon Tax for home heating oil).

 Therefore:

We, the undersigned, demand that the NDP-Trudeau Coalition to eliminate the Carbon Tax on everything for everyone.
